AccorHotels has announced it
will open a new-build Novotel
hotel at Christchurch Airport
following the signing of an
agreement with Christchurch
International Airport Ltd.
The 200-room Novotel
hotel will be located next to
the Christchurch International
Terminal and is being
designed by Warren and
Mahoney Architects, the same
team behind the award-
winning Novotel Auckland
Airport will feature a
restaurant and bar, function
and meeting room facilities.
"AccorHotels is proud to
be working with Christchurch
Airport to build a new Novotel hotel on the
campus," said AccorHotels' Senior Vice President
Operations for New Zealand, Fiji and French
Polynesia, Chris Sedgwick.
"The airport's investment in new services and
increasing airline capacity suggests that the
time is right for a new hotel in the precinct,
particularly at a time when growing tourist
numbers to New Zealand highlight the need for

Christchurch Airport Chief Executive,
Malcolm Johns, said the airport will invest
NZD$80 million in land and improvements for
the hotel development.
He said the new hotel would be the second
on the airport campus and

overnight on the airport campus. From the end of
next year, many more will be able to do that."
Novotel Christchurch Airport will complement
AccorHotels two existing airport hotels in New
Zealand -- Novotel Auckland Airport and ibis
Budget Auckland Airport.
Construction of the Novotel hotel will
commence in May 2016 with the hotel due to
open late 2017.
IN NEW CALEDONIA
Hilton Worldwide has announced Hilton Lifou Wadra Bay Resort, its
second hotel in New Caledonia, with the signing of a franchise agreement
with Société de Développement des îles Loyautés (SODIL).
The 50-room resort is due to open in 2019 and will be managed by
GLP Hotels New Caledonia.
"Today we take the first step toward adding a world-class resort to the
island of Lifou and Hilton is thrilled to have this opportunity; what a terrific
place to continue our New Caledonia story," said Robert Scullin, vice
president, Development, Australasia, Hilton Worldwide.
"This beautiful country surrounded by the Pacific Ocean has a deep,
rich cultural heritage.
"Global travellers trust the Hilton brand and together with our partners
we look forward to making this destination more accessible to global
travellers," he said.
Lifou Island is one of the three Loyalty Islands located o the east coast
of the mainland of New Caledonia.
"This important project has been in the works for many years and
together with GLP Hotels and Hilton Worldwide we are excited to bring
this unique piece of paradise in the South Pacific to both new and existing
Hilton Worldwide guests," said William Ihage, general manager of SODIL.
This will be the first hotel of this standard on the island which is largely
undiscovered and features a combination of Melanesian culture, nature
Lifou Island is accessible by air or by boat leaving from Noumea, the
capital city of New Caledonia.
"We look forward to managing this new hotel and bringing an
international level of service to Lifou," said Jean Rambaud, general
manager of GLP Hotels New Caledonia.

The resort will include 50 villas all located on or close to the beachfront
and will boast an inland lagoon with local fish, rays and turtles following an
agreement with the Noumea Aquarium. Two restaurants, a health club,
spa, outdoor pool and event spaces complete the resort facilities.
