site ground breaking ceremony that a third
DoubleTree by Hilton property will open in Perth.
The 205-room DoubleTree by Hilton
Perth – Northbridge is due for completion in
early 2017 and will be the first DoubleTree by
Hilton to open in Western Australia.
Hilton Worldwide and SKS Group last year
announced their partnership for two additional
Western Australia hotels – DoubleTree by
Hilton Perth – Waterfront and DoubleTree by
Hilton Perth – Fremantle.
“Hilton Worldwide has a longstanding
history of operation in the Australasian region,
and we welcome the opportunity to grow our
presence here with the addition of DoubleTree
by Hilton Perth – Northbridge,” said Hilton
Worldwide’s Vice President of Development –
Australasia, Robert Scullin.
“Locally in Australasia, DoubleTree by
Hilton has opened and signed 10 hotels across
Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.”
DoubleTree by Hilton Perth – Northbridge
will be located at 100 James Street,
Northbridge. Positioned immediately north of
the Perth CBD, Northbridge is home to Perth’s
entertainment district. The hotel will feature
205 rooms including four suites, a restaurant
and bar, 400m2 of event space, business centre,
gym and outdoor pool.

seen a recent transformation,” said Hilton
Worldwide’s Vice President of Operations
Australasia, Paul Hutton.
“At the heart of this, Northbridge is a vibrant
suburb where arts, culture and entertainment
come together. We are extremely excited to be
announcing our third Perth DoubleTree by
Hilton hotel in Northbridge set right amongst
Perth’s most happening precinct.”
SKS Group is the Perth-based overseas
investment arm of MB Group, based in Johor
Bahru, Malaysia. MB Group has a 30-year
track record in real estate development,
property construction, building materials
trading, hotel development and hospitality
management, and credit financing in Malaysia.

At DoubleTree by Hilton Perth –
Northbridge, guests will enjoy all of the
hallmarks of a DoubleTree by Hilton stay that
create a rewarding hotel experience, from the
signature chocolate chip cookie to an array of
upscale services and amenities.
IHG’s Holiday Inn brand is set for a return
to Cairns in Far North Queensland after
the company signed a management
agreement with Taisei Kanko Australia Pty
Limited to rebrand the 173-room Mercure
The hotel is set to undergo a
refurbishment before opening as a Holiday
Inn later this year and it will be the eleventh
Holiday Inn hotel in the country.

work with our partners to grow our brands
in new markets – our upcoming Crowne
Plaza in Tasmania and InterContinental
in Perth are great examples of that,”
said IHG’s Chief Operating Officer,
Australasia, Japan and Korea and Asia,
Middle East and Africa (AMEA) Franchising,

Pty Ltd, we are bringing Holiday Inn to Cairns.
Domestic travel continues to pick up and as
the gateway to one of the world’s top tourist
attractions, Cairns is a key city for us in Australia.
“ We are confident the hotel’s location
and facilities will make Holiday Inn Cairns
Harbourside one of the top choices for people
travelling to Cairns,” she said.
Located at the northern end of The
Esplanade in Cairns, a key access point for
the Great Barrier Reef, Holiday Inn Cairns
Harbourside will particularly appeal to
guests on holiday looking to experience the
World Heritage Site.

as the city continues to experience record
visitor arrivals and grow as a tourism
