Home' Hotel Management : HM APRIL 2015 Contents Gary, this industry knows
that HotelHome have been
the creators of stylish fabrics
and bed covering products
for Australian hotels for
many years now, but what
new ideas are being created
for the industry and is there
a new direction we can
expect to see in our premium
Hotel management and their
designers are now expecting
something exclusive with all fabrics
for their new hotel builds and their
major refurbishments. Gone are the days when fabrics were chosen from
a rack of hangers, which is on offer to everyone and it ends up in another
hotel two streets away. Fabric design exclusivity, offering a signature look
on upholstery and bed covering is what it is all about going forward.
This type of exclusivity in designing, sounds like it will add to
the refurbishment budgets for these Hotels, will they pay the
money required to reach these levels?
Designing exclusive fabrics in any quality or finish is our business at
HotelHome and in most cases they are more affordable than ‘off the rack’
offerings from wholesalers. We collaborate with our clients designers in
carefully choosing handle and texture, incorporating design elements
and colours and then selecting world class yarns. Most importantly, our
fabrics will meet all standards and specification criteria, no matter what
the end use required.
Your brand HotelHome is all about being Australian made.
There seems to be a lot of interest with Australian Hoteliers
and owners wanting to support Australian manufacturing at
present. Are you seeing this as well?
Some of the newer hotel players to Australia are seemingly importing
everything in their fit outs and it is always about price, not necessarily
longevity. We expect to hear from many of them very soon. The
established hotel groups in this country have always tended to look for
quality in textiles and the knowledge of Australian made fabrics being
up there with the best Internationally in style, quality and affordability,
has automatically created a greater
interest in our locally produced
product. Whilst the made in
Australia claim fell on deaf ears
over many years, the cream has
risen to the top both in our fabric
industry and also in the bedding
industry and in most cases the
remaining manufacturers are the
best in their field. As with many
Australians, Australian Hoteliers
have noticed the huge demise in
local manufacturing of all products
and the desire to support the
remaining few is coming back.
Why should owners and investors of hotels look to procure
Australian made products?
Australian manufacturers of quality hotel products offer warranties
and they are here to service their clients when accidents happen and
replacements are required urgently. Also, the minimum required on
Australian made products is generally far less than imports.
Tell us about some of the projects HotelHome has been
doing of late and the level of products you’ve been delivering
to the properties.
Most of our projects are with properties requiring a more modern
look and some also lean towards a classic style. However we have just
completed one of Australia’s oldest hotels in Hobart, built by the convicts
in 1834, just prior to the Victorian era. The brief from the designer was to
come up with exclusive fabric qualities in both drapery and bed covering
and period designs to suit that time. I can report that both owners and
designers were very excited with the fabrics and finished product.
Why should Australian hotels work with HotelHome to
enhance their properties?
We have the experience and we also understand what is required both in
finished style, excellent long term presentation and the ability to meet our
client ’s budget.
